They lived upstairs,
Liberty, Barbara, and Tara,
in that old house on Kentucky Street.
I’d give them Marlboro Lights
and we’d smoke them
on the roof outside Tara’s window.
We talked about life and dreams
and who’s dating who.
That house is gone now.
We graduated and moved away.
Now I’ve got two girls
living upstairs
that I’m responsible for.
I smoke cigarettes on the deck
after they’ve gone to bed
and worry about life and dreams
and who’s dating who.
